We all also found by trial and error that once per month didn’t work for us either.

So many things were happening in between the meetings all the time was absorbed with what had previously occurred there was hardly any opportunity to talk about plans for the future.

Every 2 weeks is an efficient formula for keeping the team connected without making it a burden. There is time for you to share the outcomes from the previous two weeks and focus on significant and upcoming items on everyone’s agenda.

The perfect meeting time is 90 minutes.

We’ve identified, yet again by way of trial and error that 90 minutes provides time for people to feel like something significant was achieved and to actually feel connected with one another.

Bear in mind, this is about creating powerful relationships which may continue to serve you for a long time.

In a future article I am going to share with you the actual structure of our meetings which make the ninety minute format work for us.

Usually should you be still getting together in person for your mastermind group you are going to want it to last longer, if for no other reason than to rationalize the time, travel, cost, etc.

The additional time, once again based on the experiences of successful individuals we know who are using this process, will not likely make them more productive. Just the opposite, more chit chat and less enthusiasm about participating in the next meeting.

Mastermind groups were originally created as face to face interactions. Visualize how much of a commitment was required long ago when a person had to travel possibly for many miles just to get together with their fellow mastermind group members?

Regardless of whether gas was cheap, these in person mastermind groups took up a lot of time. And the members of the group were only those folks who lived close enough to attend the meetings regularly. This really limited the potential for the group to who was around rather than who was the best possible fit.

Over the last decade or so however mastermind groups have migrated to more of a virtual environment with a few meetings face to face, perhaps quarterly or even annually, with the others handled using all the technologies currently available.

In fact we know dozens and dozens of groups made up of trade association members who meet before, during, and even in members only mastermind retreats after their annual association events. They use this face time to catch up and plan for the future. The rest of the year they meet together over the phone and keep in touch via email, Twitter, etc.

That’s the real beauty of the mastermind group process. It works whenever, wherever, and however you do!
